What date did you start trading as a Business Doctor?
I started training in July, officially from August 2016.
What is your career background?
I have 25 years of working experience, 10 of which was in clothing and textile, and 15 years in petrochemical. I have held various roles in the business starting in Operations doing work study ad operational efficiencies and then moving into Finance. I have also done Strategy, Risk Management, Supply Chain and Project Management.
What were you doing before?
My last position was Customer Accounts Manager, responsible for Credit Management and Credit Risk Management.
How did you discover the franchise and why did you choose this franchise over others that are available?
I was very keen to leave Corporate as I wanted flexible working hours to allow me to be more available to my 3 teenage children. I was specifically looking for consulting work that involved directly offering small and medium businesses with hands on business support. I wanted to use my extensive experience to contribute and add value to the SME business sector. This was inspired by my role in Strategy and managing projects especially the Enterprise Supplier Development programme. I came across Business Doctors through internet research, specifically looking for Business Support Consulting.
Is your family involved in running the franchise? What is the impact of working together?
No, it is just me.
How did you raise the finances required?
Thus far, own funding.
How did you find the training material and support you received from your franchisor?
There are plenty of videos, presentations and articles. It is a very well structure business format. Extremely detailed, easy to understand and helpful. Steve goes out of his way, over and beyond, to ensure that we understand the product offering and the methodology as well as delivery of the product. He is exceptionally astute in business and generously shares his knowledge. The head office team are outstanding, always available and helpful. They create a family environment and you feel like you belong very quickly.
What highs do you expect in your new business?
Constructively contributing to the SME Business growth. Being actively a part of the fast changing economic landscape. I look forward to sharing my knowledge skills and experiences to help others.
What do you particularly love about your work?
Meeting new people and understanding their industry and its dynamics.
What are your plans for the future?
I have medium term plans for being a Business Doctor, helping to build the Brand as a reference of trust, expertise and a pillar in business community.
